A good friend of mine on his blog recently posted a list of sites that he checks on a daily basis. I used to check quite a few sites every too, but that stopped some time ago. He also mentioned that he has a few sites that he follows in an RSS reader.
I, on the other hand, really use the RSS reader. Here's my current list of feeds that I follow in my RSS reader. More after the list....

If a site doesn't have an RSS feed I use Feedwhip to update me whenever the page changes.
As for my RSS reader of choice, I use Google Reader. Because Google Reader is online (as opposed to a desktop application) I can get updates from any place I can get access to a web browser (not just my personal PC). Finally Google Reader offers a mobil interface so I can follow all these sites with my phone.
