Smile Detector is pretty cool

DSC00074, originally uploaded by arwild01.

When we bought the Sony DSC-W170 with its "Smile Shutter" feature I thought it would be "cute" but essentially not real useful feature of the camera. That said.... its definitely good for trying to capture the oh-so-rare smile of an infant. :)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ENERGY SAVER LIGHT BULBS!

While I do think more people should use CFL bulbs... I'm not sure how I feel about congress legislating their use. To make matters worse, the average consumer is not AT ALL aware of CFL disposal procedures and don't follow them... and even if they were aware... if they are really as complicated as read here... nobody will ever do it anyway (I know I haven't with the few I threw away... but I was in the "unaware" category before).

Ted Poe happens to be my representative, but this video came to me in an e-mail from someone who probably had no idea.

Supercomputers now availble for the Desktop

Cray is now offering a Supercomptuer in a box designed to sit on an individual's desk. This is going to blow IT "standardization" foks minds.

All 2008 US Nobel Laureates in Science Endorse Obama! - Scientists & Engineers for America Action Fund

While, I haven't officially made up my mind about who I'm going to vote for... I'll admit that I've been leaning away from Obama for quite a few reasons (that I won't go into here).

However, this gave me pause.

It isn't changing my mind one way or the other, but it's definately interesting.

Oh yeah... and Vint Cerf, too.

Showing up elsewhere...

Looks like my recent GPS problems (which have been resolved) made it to the top of the list on bbgeeks "Monthly Roudup".
